Abstract
During the season of southern right whales (Eubalaena australis) in the waters of the Valdes Peninsula, 9 surveys were conducted between May and November 2016, from the Observatory that Fundación Patagonia Natural has on the shores of the Golfo Nuevo (Province of Chubut, Patagonia Argentina). The total number of whales in the counts varied between a maximum of 237 specimens (August 24); and minimums of 2 specimens (May 12) and 6 specimens (November 13). No individuals were recorded in the first census (May 1) and in the last census (November 22). The data from this season confirm that the months with the highest presence of right whales in the waters of the Golfo Nuevo off El Doradillo Natural Protected Area cover the period from June/July to September (3 to 4 months).
During the season when Southern Right whales (Eubalaena australis) are present in Valdes Peninsula, between themonths of May and November 2016, 9 censuses were conducted from the Right whale Observatory "Punta Flecha", on the coasts of Golfo Nuevo (Chubut Province, PatagoniaArgentina). The total number of whales counted varied between a maximum of 237 individuals(August 24th) and a minimum of 2 individuals (May 12th) and 6 individuals (November 13th). No whales were recorded in the first census (May 1st) and in the last census (November 22th).This season data confirm that the months with the greatest number of Southern Right whales, in the waters of the Golfo Nuevo front to the Natural Protected Area "El Doradillo", cover June/July to September (3-4 months).
