Abstract
We studied several aspects of the nesting of the Moustached Antpitta (Grallaria alleni), an endangered species in Colombia due to the destruction of Andean forests. The nest is cup-shaped, similar in form to those reported for other members of the genus; the clutch is two greenish-blue eggs, for which we present the first recorded weights. We measured the nest microclimate during five days; data on incubation sessions and the value for constancy of incubation indicate that both adults share this task. The apparent preference of the species for nesting near streams may reflect the more stable microclimate these provide. We also describe a juvenile, with a photograph.
