Abstract
We provided comments on the proposed changes to Ontario's Environmental Assessment Act through Bill 197, and submit recommendations regarding the proposed list of projects. In particular, we recommend the Environmental Assessment Act be reformed to include all projects except those that are excluded through an evidence-based, transparent and participatory process; include all mining projects; better align with the federal environmental process; and consider the value of a proactive, regional impact assessment.
