Abstract
During the live capture of mountain lions (Puma concolor) for research, the target animal often takes refuge in a tree or rocky area, where it is immobilized with appropriate chemicals. In some instances the treed animal needs to be physically removed from its location, a process which risks injury to both researchers and the lion. This paper introduces a new device to safely remove immobilized mountain lions from trees and cliffs.
