Abstract
Some bamboos are perennial monocarps in which they grow vegetatively for set periods of a decade or more, flower, set seed, and die back over large areas. Some evidence suggests that while flowering is likely determined by strong genetic controls, these may be disrupted by environmental disturbance. This study examines the association between the spatial distribution of the wild monocarp bamboo Bashania fangiana Yi and site/disturbance characteristics post-widespread flowering in Wolong Nature Reserve, China in order to examine the environmental impact on flowering time.
