Abstract
This paper reveals that climate change in Arctic Yukon is not causing Red Fox to outcompete the smaller Arctic Fox. Both species have remained in similar proportions since the 1970s with neither getting the upper hand despite substantial warming in all seasons. Meanwhile, the increased scavenging opportunities associated with human activity are linked with Red Fox expansion in Arctic Alaska and Europe. Increasing human activity in the Canadian Arctic, such as oil and gas exploration in the Beaufort Sea region, brings risks to the Arctic Fox if humans provide more scavenging opportunities for red foxes.
