Abstract
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a viral contagion that, among other species, episodically affects mongolian gazelles and livestock in Mongolia’s Eastern Steppe. Understanding the disease dynamics between Mongolian gazelles and livestock species is critical to developing an effective FMD virus management strategy. This study uses data from a serological survey in 2001 to determine whether gazelles had been exposed to the FMD virus during a concurrent outbreak in livestock in order to resolve the FMD epidemiology in the region.
