Abstract
This study examined nest-site selection in forest cavity excavators and findings describe preferences for various boreal bird species. This information can inform forest harvest in terms of what forest structure to leave behind in residual patches left in a harvested area. Recommendations from this study include leaving several large (>35cm), live aspen with numerous fungal conks in clumps adjacent or near large (>5ha) forest patches when harvesting.
