Abstract
Elephants, tigers, hundreds of banteng and gaur —Asia’s forest bison—and the world’s largest population of black-shanked douc langurs still roam the forest. Each morning, more than 2,500 yellow-cheeked crested gibbons fill the forest with their haunting territorial song, sharing this haven with endangered giant and whiteshouldered ibis and gaudy green peafowl. This remarkable place is the Seima Protection Forest—an 1,100 square mile global treasure and a last sanctuary for some of Asia’s most spectacular wildlife.
